We have had the first name chosen for Baby Hackwell No. 2, which begins with A, since January 2011. We have finally decided on a middle name for our son and it will begin with W. If you want to participate, we would now like to invite you to guess the name of our little AWH!

Today, I had an ultrasound for our baby boy, who will be arriving on Thursday, August 25th (via scheduled cesarean--the last one was a surprise surgery). That is in exactly eight weeks and two days. It is hard to believe that he will be here so soon. We are starting to get really excited about meeting our son! It has been a wonderful adventure to have a sweet daughter, our beautiful Scarlett, but it will be fun to also have a boy in our household.

On Friday, January 7, 2011, which was an unseasonably warm afternoon in San Francisco, I was diagnosed with chickenpox. On Monday, I had been in a triumphant mood, looking forward to the new year. We wanted to give you a quick update on Scarlett, since she just turned six months old this past Saturday. Scarlett, who has a bevy of nicknames, including Scarletina, Scarletta, and Scarleroo, is turning into a beautiful little girl with such a lovely personality. Although being a Mom or a Dad can sometimes be a challenge, we feel lucky to be able to spend each day with Scarlett and watch as her mind lights up when she makes new discoveries. She is a very happy child and eager to learn about the world in which she lives.

Scarlett is now over twelve weeks old and we celebrated her three-month birthday over Memorial Day weekend at Filoli Gardens in Woodside, California. Scarlett will be a little girl, rather than a baby, before we know it so we are trying to relish all the beautiful baby moments like the huge smiles she gives to us every morning when she wakes up. She is like a Morning Glory flower and really blossoms when the sun comes up each day!
